Originally, this concrete enclosure was an actual fountain, filled with recirculating water. After a series of maintenance challenges, the decision was made to creatively reimagine it in a way that would be more sustainable over the long haul.
Plastic netting was cut to size, woven through with addressable LED bullet pixels, and placed in the bottom of the fountain. Reflective mylar walls help disperse the glow; the plexiglass top has a layer of diffraction coating to simulate light bouncing off water. Whimsical 3D-printed fish were added at the end as a lighthearted touch.
